An introduction to the 2020 Census for Montana librarians.
Montana libraries have a crucial role to play in helping Montana communities attain a complete count for the 2020 Census. In Spring, 2020, most people who are currently living in Montana will be expected to voluntarily report online or by phone. Paper forms are going to be a lesser-used method to collect this information. Since most libraries provide free access to WiFi and public computers, it is expected that many people will find their way to the library to complete their forms.
Libraries have a stake in promoting civic engagement in their communities, and the decennial census is a foundational responsibility of all who reside in the United States, under Article 1, Section 2, of the US Constitution.
Your State Library is here to help by providing materials, information, and training to Montana Libraries and by coordinating a statewide Census 2020 at the Library week April 19-25, 2020.
