How to Access PCI Webinars:
Access to the PCI webinar series is for Montana lbirary staff and volunteers only. To register for this event or to view the recording, you must login to the MSL Moodle space at mtstatelibrary.moonami.com. If you don't have an account, you can create one for free. Once you log into the MSL Moodle space, click on the "PCI Webinars" course, and you will be enrolled. In this informative webinar with Alex Kyrios, Senior Editor of the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC), you’ll learn about the underlying principles of the system, and what they mean for effective classification for your library. See live demonstrations from WebDewey, the continuously updated online system for accessing the DDC—you’re welcome to follow along on your own.
Whether you’re new to the system or could use a refresher, you’ll get practical examples and helpful tips that will help you get the most out of the world’s most widely used classification system.
Speaker Bio:
Alex Kyrios is the Senior Editor of the Dewey Decimal Classification at OCLC, based out of the Library of Congress. He is responsible for overseeing the continuous updating and revision of the classification, and works with partners and volunteers around the world to do so.
Previously, he was a cataloger at the Folger Shakespeare Library and the University of Idaho. He has an M.S. in library science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a B.A. in English from the College of William & Mary.
