Drama Clubs in a library? Yes! Performers are storytellers after all. Learn why theater arts are an important part of a child’s education, participate in some improv and instructional games, and leave with the knowledge of how to organize and run a successful children’s and/or teen drama club at your library.
Christina Koch is the Library Deputy Director of the Thompson-Hickman Madison County Library in Virginia City, Montana and the Company Director of the Virginia City Players theater company. She has a background in Early Childhood Education, a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Musical Theater Performance, and a Master’s of Library and Information Science. In 2018, she combined her love for teaching children with her love for theater arts, to create a Children’s Drama Club at her library. Over the last six years, the club has grown exponentially and now includes two children’s clubs, as well as, a teen drama club.
