Employees from the Missoula Public Library will explore their programs, partnerships, and outreach techniques. Gain practical tools to strengthen your library’s role as a dynamic community hub.

Xavier Kneedler-Shorten has been the programming librarian at the Missoula Public Library for the past year. His work as a librarian aims to connect community members to programs and engagement opportunities filled with fun, learning, and understanding.

Kayla Whitaker is the Managing Librarian for the Youth Services Department at the Missoula Public Library, as well as the Branch Manager for the Potomac School and Community Library. She serves as a member of the Montana Book Award Committee and is part of the MLA Awards & Honors Committee. She is the co-host, along with her sister, of the podcast Literature & Libations. 

Selya Avila gained her library chops through years of experience in the Circulation Department before transitioning to the role of Community Engagement Specialist at the Missoula Public Library. In her work, she values supporting her community by building collaborative relationships with individuals and organizations. She is particularly focused on working with underserved populations, ensuring they have access to resources that foster growth and connection.

Amanda Allpress is the Assistant Director of Community Engagement at the Missoula Public Library. In addition to her current role, she has served as a Reference Librarian, a YA Librarian, a Technical Services Assistant, and a Circulation Assistant. Amanda digs library work as well as digging in her garden. She loves her big family, which is mostly furry, 6 rambunctious bird dogs and 2 cats.
