Kayla Whitaker, Montana Book Award Committee members Come get a behind the scenes look at the 2025 Montana Book Award! Committee members will talk about some of their favorite submissions, and dive deeper into this year's honor books and the winner of the 2025 Montana Book Award. Copies of submitted books will be available for attendees to take home.
In 2001 the Friends of Missoula Public Library decided that Montana needed a book award in order to recognize literary and artistic excellence. The Montana Book Award is an annual award that recognizes literary and/or artistic excellence in a book published during the award year. Eligible titles are either set in Montana, deal with Montana themes/issues, or are written, edited or illustrated by a Montana author or artist. Books for all ages are considered for the award.
This presentation will be led by Kayla Whitaker, Chair of the Montana Book Award and Managing Librarian of the Youth Services Department at the Missoula Public Library, along with members of this year's Montana Book Award Committee.
