Jennie Stapp, Savanna Sill, Rebekah Kamp
Montana State Library staff will share insights from an ongoing Legislative Education Interim Budget Committee study of statewide library resource sharing. This in-depth study is anchored in MCA 22-1-328, a law first enacted in 1989 and significantly revised in 2009.
Jennie Stapp was first introduced to library work while a student at Rocky Mountain College. As a Peace Corps volunteer in Bolivia Jennie decided to pursue librarianship as a profession. While a library student at the University of Arizona she worked as a student archivist at the university Special Collections Library. Following completion of her MLS Jennie worked as the Technical Services Librarian for the Montana Historical Society Research Center before coming to the State Library. After having held four different positions at the State Library, Jennie became the State Librarian in January 2012. She is now the longest serving Montana State Librarian.
Savanna Sill serves as the Montana Library Network Coordinator for the Montana State Library. She helps to oversee MontanaLibrary2Go, the Courier, and OCLC. Savanna is a little newer to the library world in her own professional career, but her mother and great grandmother both worked as librarians in Central Montana, and she decided libraries were pretty cool places ever since attending Miss Peggy’s Story Hour in Conrad, MT many years ago! In her free time, she loves cooking bougie recipes and watching her 9 nieces and nephews participate in the extracurriculars they love!
Rebekah Kamp serves as the Data Coordinator for the Montana State Library, so you probably know her best from working on your library stats. Rebekah earned her MLIS at the University of Washington in 2011 and has worked in various capacities in libraries since, including cataloging, system administration, and youth services. Her passion for libraries is driven by a lifelong curiosity and desire to learn everything. When not at the library, Rebekah enjoys backpacking and exploring Montana’s wilderness. She is also a volunteer for Girl Scouts and Scouting America and loves helping kids discover confidence and leadership skills in the outdoors.
