    <descript>
Elevation data for the Lower Yellowstone River floodplain in Montana. The data were derived from LIDAR data and are available as 2.5-meter digital elevation models (DEM) in TIFF format and as triangulated irregular networks (TIN) in two ESRI formats.
      <purpose>These data were created as part of a joint Yellowstone River Conservation District Council and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District cumulative impacts study of the Yellowstone River channel and floodplain. The multi-agency interdisciplinary planning study extends 477 river miles from Sweetgrass County, Montana to the Missouri River confluence in McKenzie County, North Dakota. These data are specifically intended to provide an accurate digital surface model with which to analyze the hydraulic conditions of the Yellowstone River channel and floodplain. In addition, they are intended to serve as a base for the project GIS and also to support a wide variety of analyses including planimetric data extraction (e.g., infrastructure, riverine geomorphology, land cover, habitat and vegetation), and to monitor long-term river channel changes.</purpose>
