    <descript>
Estimated relationship between tailings identified along Silver Bow Creek and groundwater elevations. The layer contains zones that range from representing dry tailings that do not reach within two feet of the groundwater to saturated tailings whose depth is more than two feet below the groundwater surface.

The data were created by converting vector layers of tailings depth and groundwater elevation to raster format, subtracting the tailings depth from a digital elevation model of the land surface to create a "tailings bottom elevation" surface, and then finding the difference between the groundwater elevation surface and the tailings bottom elevation surface.

These data were formerly available from the Montana State Library web site but were removed because they are potentially out of date. Please contact the Federal Superfund Bureau of the Montana Department of Environmental Quality if you want these data so they may tell you if newer or better data are available. If the data are not available from the Department of Environmental Quality, you may request a copy from the Montana State Library data archive.
