Abstract:

Land parcel boundaries, extending about 0.5 miles from the centerline of the Clark Fork between Milltown and Bonner, Montana. There is no information about the land owners associated with these parcels.

The source of these data was a series of 1:4800 scale maps owned by the Atlantic Richfield Company. A set of these maps were provided to the Riparian Wetlands Research Program (RWRP) of the University of Montana School of Forestry for production of a digital map series used to identify which properties they had permission to enter for the purpose of mapping tailings deposits. Photocopies of the maps were later provided to the State Library, along with incompletely digitized data from the RWRP. The library staff felt the maps were of very poor quality and difficult to interpret for digitization. The polyline feature class has information about the source of each property line and a quality estimate.

These data were formerly available from the Montana State Library web site but were removed because they are potentially out of date. Please contact the Federal Superfund Bureau of the Montana Department of Environmental Quality if you want these data so they may tell you if newer or better data are available. If the data are not available from the Department of Environmental Quality, you may request a copy from the Montana State Library data archive.
