The polygon boundaries follow meridians and parallels of the NAD27 latitude-longitude lines that formed the boundaries of the 20th-century paper maps. All quadrangles that intersect Montana or that touch a quadrangle that intersects Montana have been included.Each polygon has fields for the map name and for four different ID code systems that have been used for the quadrangles. There is a field that shows the published year of the 1:24,000 scale topographic map that the Montana State Library has an image of. 1:24K scale Quadrangle Boundaries for Montana 1998 2013 Quadrangle dates were established in 1998. QCode_RC This is a code for the quadrangles where the first five characters give the integer parts of the latitude and longitude of the quadrangle southeast corner, the sixth character is a number 1 through 8 to indicate how many rows north the quad is from the whole latitude/longitude corner, and the seventh character is a number 1 through 8 to indicate how many columns west the quand is from the corner. QCode_Seq This is a code for the quadrangles where the first five characters give the integer parts of the latitude and longitude of the quadrangle southeast corner. The sixth and seventh digits are a sequence number counting left to right and top to bottom from the northwest corner of the 1x1 degree quadrangle block. CivilAirID Civil Air Patrol Grid Designation. This consists of a three-character code designating which NOAA sectional aeronautical chart the quadrange is in, a three digit sequence number for 15-minute quadrangles, and a character "A" through "D" indicating which corner of the 15-minute quad the 7.5-minute quadrangle is in. UTMZone Universal Transverse Mercator coordinate zone that the quadrangle is in States Comma-delimited list of abbreviations of the states and/or provinces that the quandrangle covers MSL_Date Published year of the 1:24,000 scale topographic map that the Montana State Library has an image of.
