Private Land Ownership Map

Updated September 2016

  • The Private Land Ownership maps are produced by Montana State Library staff in cooperation with Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks. These maps illustrate ownership of most contiguous private land, owned by the same party, when that tract of land is 40 acres or greater. Private land tracts less than 40 acres are not illustrated.
  • Ownership of these larger tracts of contiguous land is indicated by a numeric label on the map. You can look up the owner of a large tract using the Private Land List. The Private Land List ties the numeric labels on the map to the party who owns the land.
