Abstract Database of reference markers along on-system routes which includes Interstate, non-Interstate National Highway System (NHS), Primary, and Secondary highways. Created from GPS in the summer of 2004 by MDT's Road Inventory and Mapping Section. Missing marker locations were generated from MDT's Image Viewer or derived using the distance from the previous marker in MDT's Transportation Information System. Of the total 12,865 markers, 9,002 were found in the field and located using resource grade GPS, 1648 were found using the Image Viewer and 2215 were Derived using information in TIS. The SOURCE column identifies the location method used for each record.Reference Markers are commonly referred to as mile marker, mile post, mile posts, milepost, mileposts, route marker, or green signs.
